AI Guidance for Librarians Transitioning to a New Environment Online
Many information professionals approach Artificial Intelligence with understandable caution—and for good reason. Yet, AI is rapidly becoming an integral part of our professional landscape, and it's clear that it’s here to stay. By drawing lessons from the digital era’s transformation, we can begin to set thoughtful boundaries, explore practical uses, and work toward a balanced integration of AI in our libraries. While the process won't be perfect, it marks an important step in our technological evolution. Join us for an open, honest monologue about navigating the complexities and possibilities of AI in library environments.
Presenter: Sara Hack is the Reference and Instruction Librarian at the Seminole Campus of St. Petersburg College, where she also serves as the liaison to the Technology department. She holds an MLIS from the University of South Florida and a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Florida International University. Currently pursuing her doctorate at St. Thomas University, Sara has a focus on digital learning and online education. When she’s not immersed in academic work, you’ll likely find her relaxing at a local tea shop or doting on her friends’ kittens.
