Homeless Library Training Academy Access Online
Because these trainings are being offered throughout the state, registration is only open to libraries in the TBLC region. Please check with your local MLC if your library is located outside of this region.
The start date for this training is August 11, 2025 through Niche Academy. Once you are connected with the online platform, you’ll have access until August 11, 2026.
Homeless Library Training Academy: De-Escalation Core Training
The Homeless Library Academy: De-Escalation Core Training is a foundational course designed to equip library staff with essential knowledge and skills for effectively serving individuals experiencing homelessness. Developed with frontline library needs in mind, this course fosters empathy, communication strategies, and service approaches that support inclusive, trauma-informed library spaces.
Register to join the training and receive the following access:
- Self-paced access – Complete the core training course on your own schedule.
- Live training releases – Gain access to additional live training opportunities throughout the year to deepen your learning and stay current with best practices.
- One-year enrollment period – Your access to the course and all related resources will remain active for 12 months from the date of enrollment.
- Additional Training access – Gain access to follow up trainings related to the core course including conversations with experts.
Please note: To access any subsequent Homeless Library trainings, you must first register here to be enrolled in the De-Escalation Core Training course.

Grant Information
This project is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Florida Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.
For FY2024-25, 75% of total costs for TBLC Regional Continuing Education ($223,959) is supported with federal government funds (LSTA grant funds); 25% of this program ($74,744) is financed with state government money. The total budget of the project is $298,703.
