A Quick Guide to Creating or Updating A Collection Management Policy Online
Does your institution have a Collection Management Policy adopted that is due to be reviewed and revised? Or does your institution need this core document to be created and adopted? This webinar will provide the tools and knowledge to create a strong workable document your institution can utilize for any collection related activities.
Attendees will learn what a Collections Management Policy is and how it governs cultural institutions and their collection procedures. They will learn why it is important to have a strong, clear Collections Management Policy and how to utilize it effectively for collection needs. Attendees will learn what common elements are standardized in this core document and will be able to adapt these standards to their own institution’s needs. Brief description of content for each common section of a Collections Management policy will be discussed.
Presenter: Andrea Squeri is the Collections Manager at The Long Island Museum of American Art, History, & Carriages (LIM), located in Stony Brook, New York. As the Collections Manager, Andrea maintains the vast collection of approximately 75,000 objects at LIM with the curatorial team by leading rehousing and inventorying projects and completing procedures for new accessions and deaccessions. She also conducts necessary registrar work regarding loans, both incoming and outgoing, and other exhibition needs from preparation, to installation, and deinstallation. She received her master’s in museum studies from John Hopkins University where she concentrated on collection and curatorial centered courses.

Grant Information
This project is funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Florida Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.
For FY2024-25, 75% of total costs for TBLC Regional Continuing Education ($223,959) is supported with federal government funds (LSTA grant funds); 25% of this program ($74,744) is financed with state government money. The total budget of the project is $298,703.
